When you buy a 30, 40 or 50-year-old piece of furniture in a second hand furniture store, it's going to be a lot cheaper than buying it in an "antique" store, and the quality is far superior to today's throw-away imported product. A used book has exactly the same words at 1/3 the price of a new one; why not save the money?
